But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s
special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called
you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people,
but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but
now you have received mercy.
--1 Peter 2: 9-10
Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world
know what he has done. Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone
about his wonderful deeds. Exult in his holy name; rejoice, you who
worship the Lord. Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually
-- Psalm 105:1-4
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let Israel say: “His love endures forever.” Let the house of Aaron say: “His love endures forever.” Let those who fear the Lord say: His love endures forever.
-- Psalm 118:1-4
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
-- Psalm 100
God’s prominent purpose behind creation, salvation, and recreation is that He will have a people among whom He can dwell now and forever! As a covenant-making God, He is particularly faithful those who join themselves to Him in repentance, faith, and obedience. In this way, we as His people become the temple in which God dwells by His Spirit here on earth! And after Jesus returns, we will dwell with Him and He with us throughout eternity!
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.”
-- Revelation 21:3
“Be careful not to forget the covenant of the LORD your God that he made with you; do not make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything the LORD your God has forbidden.”
-- Deuteronomy 4:23
